From what I have seen, the Vancouver climate really shapes peoples choices. Areas closer to the water tend to deal with more moisture issues, while homes in the hills face stronger temperature swings. Many homeowners I have talked to say that design is important, but they only finalise their choice after checking how well the door handles drafts and long periods of rain. Others prefer low-maintenance materials like fiberglass just to avoid swelling or warping over time. Overall, it seems like climate considerations usually influence the decision more than expected.
